Located in the middle of the Vogtland region, not far from Plauen, our first proprietary data center park has stood here since 2009 - and it remains Hetzner’s largest site of its kind to this day. From secure server environments and state-of-the-art network technology to customized product development. Our employees not only ensure the smooth operation of the data center, but also work in areas such as software development, server and rack construction, networking, and product development on innovations that drive Hetzner forward every day. Falkenstein is thus a central hub for our technology and growth.
Falkenstein is home to around 180 employees. Here, teams work directly in the data centers, in the cold aisles with state-of-the-art technology and in rack and server construction. Many colleagues also work in offices located inside the data centers. These benefit directly from the waste heat, which is used for heating. Despite the highly technical environment, there is no shortage of social interaction: free barbecue events, a well-stocked drinks fridge, ice cream, coffee and tea stations, access to a physiotherapist, and friendly, ergonomic workspaces with standing desks and plenty of greenery. Prestigious events such as the Hetzner Summit also help make Falkenstein a particularly special place to work.
Nestled in the rolling hills of the Vogtland region and close to the Pöhl Dam, Falkenstein offers a region full of natural idyll and outdoor adventures – ideal for taking a deep breath, discovering, and enjoying. Falkenstein is part of the Vogtland region, which is as well known for its craftsmanship and industrial culture as it is for its proximity to nature. The town itself combines a long tradition with modern infrastructure and short distances in everyday life. In the immediate vicinity, excursion destinations such as the Göltzschtal Bridge – the largest brick bridge in the world - or the winter sports areas in the Ore Mountains offer additional variety. Those who live here benefit from a natural environment with a high quality of life without having to forego career prospects in an innovative, technological environment.
